Spirituality
The MCASA recognizes how central a role religion and spirituality plays within the 21st century. It is a mark of identity – individually and communally. On campus students are encouraged to engage and encounter the varying religious traditions and world views. MCASA’s Spirituality Department wishes to deepen the understanding and thought of students in ways such as inter-religious dialogue, religious conflict, faith and reason, fundamentalism and science etc. We provide events, groups, and opportunities for students to stimulate discussion, interaction, reflection and education on spirituality. We believe all spiritual and religious traditions are a source of wisdom that can be explored. We strive not for tolerance, but for respect and acceptance – valuing our differences and diversity, but through unity in the dignity of human life.
Social Justice
Since the 1960’s and onwards, university students have been a force to be reckoned with on issues of social justice. MCASA is proud to be apart of this tradition in wishing to combat poverty, oppression, prejudice, and violence. MCASA works for justice, peace, equality, human rights, and respect. We feature many groups and organisations focusing on several different areas and aspects of Social Justice – each with their own goals, styles, and characteristics however all with the same ideals of social justice for all. Events take place all throughout the year to build up awareness of the issues facing our world. Our aims do not include changing the world, but rather the world of our students and associates through awareness and action.
